Oskar Schlemmer/ Live performance Bauhaus Dances

In 2019, the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac (London) inaugurated its first exhibition of the pioneer sculptor, painter, performance artist, stage and costume designer Oskar Schlemmer (1888-1943). On this special occasion, the gallery included a live dance performance exploring Schlemmer's purest concepts of abstraction, structured around the human form of the dancer, Bauhaus Dance. The performers reworked the choreography around the influence that Oskar Schlemmer's Triadic Ballet had over contemporary performance art.

Another extended choreographic version was presented at the Frieze Fair London 2019/ Live. 'Oskar Schlemmer, Bauhaus Dances/ Bauhaustanze' was restaged by the dancers under the direction of C. Raman Schlemmer. In these dances, the performers mathematically explore space, form and materials, accompanied by music composed by O. Schlemmer himself.
