My work is rooted in a surreal, absurdist world with a distorted and articulated movement style. Through the motion of the body, I find playfulness in shaping sensations into an environment and shaping strength into vulnerability. I am looking to tackle the delicate issues of our time with a touch of silliness and humour. I believe in using quirkiness to bring lightness, playing with our collective insecurities in a way that is both revealing and liberating.
In the Theme of my research I really like to focus on social interrogation: For me dance embodies collective strength and creates an environment where the complexities of the world are transformed into sensations and vulnerability.
Roughness, vulnerability, poetry, sass, and self-derision, these are the colours represented in the palette of my movements.
My aesthetic is shaped by contradiction—dreamy yet realistic, nostalgic yet hopeful, raw yet tender. I embrace the tension between anger and love, fear and indulgence, allowing these contrasts to fuel my movement and artistic vision.
I come from a scientific and maths background in prior to my dance degree. So when I approach movement I have a drive from an emotional perspective but I realise I still have an attraction into logical and structural construction of movement. I can then see chaos and order coexisting. And this is what I see in the motion of the body in space.
